A method for preventing a personal computer from erroneous operation when a key is invoked during a power saving mode operation is provided to return to normal operation state irrespective of input of any key. The method comprises the steps of determining the operation mode of the personal computer when a key is inputted; and outputting a signal for returning the computer system to the previous operation state without sending the code value of the corresponding key input to the system if the computer is operated in the power down mode.
