PURPOSE: To provide an information processing system and a information processing method easily processed at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: A scanner control section 9 is provided with 1st and 2nd host communication sections 15, 16 capable of 2-way communication, a scanner 1 and a host computer 2 are connected via a 1st host communication section 15 and the scanner 1 and a printer 3 are connected via a 2nd host communication section 16. Furthermore, the printer 3 and the host computer 2 are connected via the 1st host communication section 15 and the 2nd host communication section 16. Then a CPU 23 controls the input/output direction of receiving/ giving image data via an image data input output direction changeover section 20.
