PURPOSE: To obtain a Josephson element having high critical temperature by disposing a weakly coupling body comprising a metal film of Au, for example, on a superconducting bridge located on a bicrystal line of a bicrystal substrate. CONSTITUTION: A bicrystal substrate 11 is produced by bonding two single crystal substrates having different orientation and the central joint thereof provides a bicrystal line 14. A superconducting bridge 12 and two superconducting electrodes 13a, 13b are provided on the bicrystal substrate 11 by micromachining a high temperature oxide, i.e., a superconducting thin film. The superconducting bridge 12 is formed to intersect the bicrystal line 14 perpendicularly in the longitudinal direction thereof. A weakly coupling body 15 is formed of a metallic material, e.g. Au, on the superconducting bridge 12 located directly above the bicrystal line 14. Weak coupling means a state where two parts of a superconductor are coupled through weak interaction. |
