PURPOSE: To prevent erroneous focusing and to improve reliability by detecting the setting of a self timer mode and inhibiting focusing process by an active system or selecting the result of focusing by a 2nd focusing means. CONSTITUTION: In the case of detecting that a self release switch is turned on, the focusing process by an active focusing part A is inhibited and a focusing value selection circuit 40 selects a passive focusing value (passive data) and outputs it as focusing data. Based on the set focusing data, succeeding photographing processing is executed. That is, whether it is the self timer mode or not is judged, and the range-finding value of a passive focusing part P where a focusing area is wider is selected in the self timer mode, and the more reliable focusing value is selected between the focusing values obtained by both focusing parts A and P in an ordinary photographing mode. |
