PURPOSE: To provide a positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery of long life with a large number of times of charge/discharge cycle. CONSTITUTION: 75 pts.wt nickel hydroxide powder, 6 pts.wt. cobalt powder 6, 2 pts.wt nickel powder, 0.8 pts.wt. acrylonitrile system single fiber as a reinforcing agent and a 3wt.% dispersion water solution of concentration of styrene butadiene copolymer as a binding agent are added so as to obtain 3.5 pts.wt. this resin relating to nickel hydroxide, to prepare paste. To this paste, graphite powder of 0.42m<2> /g edge surface amount and 19μm mean grain size is added by 4 pts.wt. relating to nickel hydroxide, to apply this paste dried to a supporter formed of a punching metal made of iron with 53% opening degree to apply nickel plating, to be cut into 33mm width 190mm length, to form a paste nickel electrode by mounting a lead plate. |
