PURPOSE: To easily recognize an operating state of a function of the image processing unit or the image communication equipment when a window corresponding to the function is closed by converting automatically an image in a displayed icon into an image denoting the operating state in response to the operating state of the image communication equipment. CONSTITUTION: The equipment is provided with an icon display control means 8 displaying icons selected by the operator onto a display means 7 in order to execute a prescribed operation in the image communication equipment and an image conversion means 3 converting an image in the icon displayed on the display means 7 into an image denoting the operating state automatically depending on the operating state of the image communication equipment. Thus, even when a window is closed, the operating state is simply recognized. Furthermore, when an icon corresponding to a desired function is selected, the operator easily recognizes other relating function started with the function.
