PURPOSE: To provide a portable electronic device in which unexpected falling-off of a battery pack is prevented and the mounting and removal of the battery pack are easily conducted. CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with a box shaped case, a battery container 104 formed in the inside of the case and having an opening opened to a bottom wall 5a of the case and a battery pack 135 contained removably via the opening into the battery container 104. A lock member 150 movable to a lock position locked to the battery pack 135 or a lock release position removed from the battery pack 135 is arranged to the battery container 104 and the lock member 150 is energized toward the lock position at all times. Furthermore, a coil spring 164a energizing the battery pack 135 in an extracting direction from the opening is arranged in the battery container 104.
