A gas flow cut-off member (10) for a gas meter (11), including a valve (18) movable relative to a valve seat (12a) defining an opening (16) to let through a gas flow, is disclosed. The valve comprises a membrane (26) with a main surface (26a) of which one portion known as a contact area (A) engages said valve seat when the cut-off member is in the closed position, thereby sealing said opening with the main surface, as well as a part (28) forming a mechanical membrane support and engaging said membrane. The metal part forming the membrane support has a continuous impervious surface (28a) defined by the contact area (A) so that the opening (16) will be sealed should the membrane leak.
