SUPPORTING BODY FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL AND SILVER HALIDE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL HAVING THE SUPPORTING BODY

PURPOSE: To increase the sharpness of a printed picture and to increase the apparent gloss by producing a titanium dioxide pigment by spray-drying and specifying the hexane extraction amt. and the melt tension(MT) of a polyethylene resin. CONSTITUTION: A paper essentially comprising natural pulp is used as the base material and the one surface of the paper base is coated with a resin layer containing a polyethylene resin and a titanium dioxide pigment. The titanium dioxide pigment is produced by spray-drying. The polyethylene resin has such properties that the extraction amt. with hexane is <=3.0wt.% and the melt tension(MT) is <=4.5g. The extraction amt. with hexane is measured by cutting a blown film having 38μm thickness processed at 150 deg.C into a 15cm×2.5cm sample of about 2.5g in weight, dipping the sample in 300ml n-hexane at 50 deg.C for two hours for extraction, and calculating the proportion of the weight reduction by the extraction. When the resin is extruded at 160 deg.C at 0.25g/min rate from a nozzle and drawn at 1.52m/min rate, the MT is the tension (g) measured at the point 25cm distant from the nozzle.
