PURPOSE: To prevent the degradation of the service life of an LED caused by the degradation of resin, power reduction, a change in a peak wave length or the like by sealing a bluish green LED by a package whose inside is made hollow. CONSTITUTION: After an LED chip 1 is placed on a metallic stem 2, a (p) electrode and an (n) electrode are wire-bonded to respective leads. This is airtightly sealed by a metallic cap for a can type. Glass 4 to take the emitting light outside is embedded in the emitting light observing surface side of this metallic cap 3. Or a lens to take the emitting light outside by condensing it is arranged on the emitting light observing surface side of the metallic cap 3. |
