<p>PURPOSE: To suppress the overheating of a nipple and to prevent the breakage of a graphite electrode connection, by applying an electric insulating material on the screw surface of the connection of the graphite electrode and the nipple, so as to suppress the flow of a current to the nipple. CONSTITUTION: At the connection of a graphite electrode and a nipple, an electric insulator is applied on the screw surface of the nipple, on the socket surface of the electrode, or both of them. As the electric insulator, a boron nitride which has a lubricating property, and a high electric insurance and heat resistance is used, and the powder of the insulator is suspended or solved by the water, an organic solvent, or the like, and it is applied by a spraying or a brushing. Consequently, the current flowing to the nipple is suppressed to suppress the overheating of the nipple, and the temperature difference between the nipple and the electrode is also reduced, so as to reduce the breakage of the connection extensively.</p> |
