PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely display present position of a vehicle in a display device so as to inform persons in the vehicle of the precise present position. SOLUTION: The navigation device for vehicle is provided with a present position detection means 11, a storage unit 3 in which road map information is stored, a computing unit 10 computing the present position information on the basis of an output from the present position detecting means 11 and the road map information read from the storage unit 3, and a display unit 4 indicating the present position on the displayed road map. By the computing unit 10, the vehicle present position obtained from the present position detecting means 11 is compared with a position on the road based on the road map information in each of the first and the second times, and the road, by which the shortest distance to the detected vehicle present position is provided, is selected, and then, if the road selected in the first time is the same as that selected in the second time, the present position of the vehicle is displayed on the road map displayed in the display device 4 after being corrected so as to be positioned on the selected road. |
