PURPOSE: To obtain a multilayer actuator producing a telescopic/bending operation effectively. CONSTITUTION: Circular metal plates 20, 24 are bonded to a piezoelectric element 15 to constitute a pair of piezoelectric unimorphs 27, 27 which are then coupled, at the central parts thereof, through central coupling studs 141, 142 to constitute actuator units 111, 112,.... The actuator units 111, 112,... are stacked coaxially and coupled sequentially, at the outer circumferential part thereof, through outer circumferential coupling studs 222, 223, 252, 253 thus constituting a multilayer actuator. Electrodes are defined on the surface of piezoelectric element 15 and a voltage is applied selectively thereto. Consequently, the metal plates 20, 24 are bent in the direction of the surface to incline the surface being bonded to the central coupling stud and thereby the axis of multilayer body is bent thus producing the actuator motion. |
