PURPOSE: To provide a color liquid crystal display device having a black mask which contributes to the improvement in light shieldability in a transverse electric field type and eliminates the disturbance in electric fields acting on liquid crystal molecules. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display device includes at least one substrate SUB 2 formed with color filters FIL(R), FIL(G), FIL(B) and the black mask BM interposed between the respective color filters, the other substrate formed with electrode groups WO and driving means for impressing driving voltage to the electrode groups. The electrode groups are so arranged that the voltage mainly parallel with the boundary of the substrate SUB 2 is impressed. The black matrix is composed of a material which includes a polyimide resin as a base material and has electric resistance of >=10<8> Ω.cm. |
