The harvester has a large mesh conveyor belt between the lifting device and the vertical conveyor. The vertical conveyor is formed by a known double conveyor with inwardly rotating narrow-mesh rod-like conveyor belt (13) and an entrainment belt (14) running close in the same direction on the outside and guided parallel at least in the area of the conveying side of the vertical conveyor. The entrainment belt has transversely aligned entrainment webs (15) which form compartments on the narrow mesh rod like conveyor belt (13). A further wide-mesh rod-like conveyor belt (17) runs in the same direction on the outside round the entrainment webs and guided parallel at least in the pick-up area of the vertical conveyor. The entrainment webs can be formed of rubber or plastics or consist of brushes.
