A washing compsn. contains (a) 5-40 wt.% surfactant, (b) 5-50 wt.% Ca-binding silicate or zeolite, and (c) 1-20 wt.% of a polyamino acid or anhydride, and contains no appreciable amt. of inorganic sulphate. Pref. polyaspartic acid or a salt, pref.an alkali salt, are used. The mol. wt. is 500-20000. The compsn. is a solid and contains less than 3% (less than 1%) of inorganic sulphate, and 1-12% of citric acid or salt.
