An apparatus (1) for dispensing material from a tube (9) includes: a base (2) which supports a pair of gear tracks (3); a cylindrical roller (5) having gear teeth (6) for engagement with the gear tracks (3); and a cover (15) that holds the roller (5) over the base. The roller (5) has a handle (11) mounted on an axle (12) rotatably mounted through roller (5) end caps (13). The axle (12) engages weights (31) at a point offset from the central axis of the weights (31) causing rotation of the handle (11) in an upward direction when released. A recoil arm (33) mounted on the axle (12) is displaceable along its longitudinal axis and has a pawl (35) for engaging saw tooth edges (32) disposed about an inner periphery of the roller (5). Downward motion of the handle (11) rotates the roller (5) along the gear tracks (3) expelling the contents of the tube (9) out of a valved port. When the handle (11) is released the arm (33) is reset for the next operation.
