A dye donor element for thermal dye transfer has a support carrying a layer contg an image dye dispersed in a binder. The binder has OH gps which have been crosslinked by a titanium alkoxide. The alkyl moiety in the alkoxide contains 1-4C. Also claimed is (A) an imaging method involving contacting the above dye donor element with a polymeric dye receiving element and heating imagewise to transfer a dye image, and (B) an assembly contg the dye-donor element and a dye receiving element. Pref. the titanium alkoxide is titanium tetra-n-butoxide or titanium tetra-i-propoxide. The binder is pref. cellulose acetate propionate or poly(vinyl acetal).
