The device has a pressure transmission arrangement (1,2,3) which is intermittently acted on by a pressurised fluid etc. The pressure transmission arrangement lies on the body surface of the patient. The device is formed as a bandage. It has at least three pressure transmission devices (1,2,3) of elastic material. These extend parallel along the length of the bandage. The pressure transmission devices (1,2,3) are acted on by the fluid at different times, perpendicular to the direction of the bandage, by means of controllable pressure control devices (4). The pressurised medium acting on the pressure transmission devices may be e.g. fluid or gas. The pressure transmission devices (1,2,3) are preferably formed as thin walled tubes.
