PURPOSE: To reduce the demodulation error to improve the throughput by preventing a large influence upon selection of a spreading sequence even at the time when the received signal level after inverse spread is changed by an influence of the degradation of the transmission quality or the like. CONSTITUTION: In the case of communication in the PCSS system, on the transmission side, N spreading sequences are divided into r groups each of which consists of n sequences, and one spreading sequence corresponding to spreading sequence selection data is selected from these groups, and r modulated signals are subjected to spread spectrum processing by this selected spreading sequence and are transmitted. On the reception side, multiplier groups 421 to 42r for inverse spread, spreading sequence generator groups 431 to 43r, and sequence discriminators 441 to 44r are provided for r these groups respectively, and inverse spread of each group is performed, and the inverse spread signal having a maximum level is selected from output signals and spreading sequences are discriminated, and a reception signal is reproduced in accordance with these selection and discrimination results. |
