Storage of solar-, wind- or water energy by electrolysis of metal hydroxide - by supplying hydroxide of e.g. lithium, sodium, potassium, etc. to electrolysis cell and passing current through cell, with additional heat supply

In the storage of solar-, wind- or water energy, a hydroxide of lithium, sodium, potassium, beryllium, magnesium or calcium is supplied from a storage vessel (1) to electrolysis cells (4). Electrical current is passed through the cell and additional heat may also be supplied (2) via a line (15) from a solar collector, in order to accelerate, or to enable reaction. Electrolysis separates the hydroxide in the cells, into the metallic elements and water, with oxygen release. The metallic elements are sepd. and processed to a reactive form (5) which may be stored. Also claimed are a process to utilise the stored energy and a plant to carry out the above processes.
