A NOVEL HYDROXIDE COMPLEX WITH CONDENSED SILICATE, A PROCESS FOR ITS PREPARATION, AN INFRARED ABSORBER AND AN AGRICULTURAL FILM

Novel composite hydroxide/condensed silicates of the general formula (I): ¢A12(Li(1-x).M2+x)(OH)6!2(SiyO2y+12-)1+x.mH20 (wherein M2+ is a divalent metal; m is a number satisfying the relationship: 0m5; x is a number satisfying the relationship: 0x1; and y is a number satisfying the relationship: 2y4); a process for the production thereof; and an infrared absorber and an agricultural film containing the same as the active ingredient. The above silicates exhibit a high infrared absorbing power, an excellent dispersibility in resins and a refractive index near those of resins, so that a resin composition containing the silicate can give an agricultural film excellent in heat retaining properties and transparency.
