New hydroxylated siloxane block copolymers comprise units of formula -[SpSSpK]m- (I). In (I), K = 4-100C alkylene, arylene or alpha ,omega -(bisalkylene) polyoxyalkylene; S = gp. of formula (i) (R1 = 1-22C alkyl or aryl); Sp = -R2Z-; (where R2 = 2-20C divalent hydrocarbon opt. contg. O, NH or -N(R1)- gps. in the chain; Z = -R3(Z1)- or -R4Z2R5 (where R3 = -NC(O)NH-, -NC(O)-, -NCH2C(OH)-, -NCH2CH2CH2-, -NCH2CH2NHC(O)(NH)0.1-, -N(CH2)2.3NHCH2C(OH)H-, -N(CH2)2.3N(R1)CH2C(OH)H-, -N(CH2)2.3N(R1)C(O)(NH)0.1-; R4 = NH, -N(R1)-, -N(O)- or O; R5 = -OC(O)NH-, -OC(O)O- or -OC(O)-; Z1 = 3-18C mono- or polyhydroxy hydrocarbon ring or straight chain, substd. with 2-22C alkylene opt. contg.
