The transmission of force between the pedal bearing (9) and the rear wheel pinion (7) is effected in two stages. A secondary transmission stage is added before the primary chain drive and the mounting of the chain sprocket (3) for the rear wheel drive is above the pedal bearing. The kinematic connection of the secondary stage and main stage is made through an intermediate shaft (6). This shaft is mounted above the pedal bearing and which carries both the chain sprocket for the rear wheel drive and the driven pinion (2) of the secondary stage transmission.
