Resistance welding equipment - with electrodes mounting sensors for elastic deformation supplying signals to measuring and evaluation equipment for detection of loss of weld quality

Spot or resistance welds are made using welding equipment with at least two electrode members (3,5;4,6) each with an electrode (7,8). An actuating member (9) applies pressure to or removes the electrodes from the welded material (10,11). At least one sensor (12) is provided on each electrode to determine the elastic deformation of the respective electrode while it is being pressed against the welded material. Signals from the two sensors are supplied to a measuring and evaluating equipment (15). Pref. a further sensor detects the movement of the actuating member and supplies a signal to the measuring and evaluation equipment.
