NAVIGATION SYSTEM ENABLING REAL-TIME CO-ORDINATION OF THE MOVEMENTS OF NON-DIRECT-VIEW MOBILE STATIONS

A system comprising a terminal provided at each mobile station (A and B). Each terminal comprises a locating means (1A, 1B) for locating the mobile station; a display means (2A, 2B) for displaying its travel relative to a reference direction; an indicator means (3A, 3B) for indicating a common reference direction to both mobile stations (A and B), said means being coupled to the display means (2A, 2B); a travel data communication means (5A, 5B); and a processing means (4A, 4B) for processing data from the indicator means (3A, 3B), the locating means (1A, 1B) and the communication means (5A, 5B) and displaying it on the display means (2A, 2B). At least one (A) of the two mobile stations (A and B) further comprises a display means (2A) for displaying the travel of the second mobile station (B) relative to the first mobile station (A); and an input unit (6) for inputting a predetermined angle ( THETA ) defining how the direction of travel of the second mobile station (B) should be corrected relative to the new direction of travel of the first mobile station (A), the correction being transmitted to the second mobile station (B) via the respective communication means (5A, 5B) of the first and second mobile stations (A and B). Said system is useful for co-ordinating the movements of combatants on a battlefield.
