The device has an insulating housing in which a power switch (29) in elastic contact with a heat sink (26) interrupts the primary current of the ignition coil. The switch, heat sink and primary coil (4) are held securely in a block of insulating resin cast into the housing. The heat sink is shaped as a vessel into which the switch is fitted and retained by a pressure plate (33). The switch comes into contact with part of the frame of a low-voltage connection structure (20).
