The tool has a lower lever (UH) with jaws (O,U) and with an extended slot guide (LF) near a series of contiguous notches (RS). The jaw gap is set by the choice of which notch accepts a flat edged circular fulcrum pin (GSt) on the upper lever (KL). The slot is longer than and parallel to the lower jaw guideway (GB). The jaws are kept parallel during movement by an interlocking joint transferring force between the levers on the jaw side of the slot. A short projection (FSt) in the lower jaw (U) runs in the slot. The lower jaw slides on the guideway on the lower lever parallel to the slot with little force.
