Silver halide emulsion contains alkylphenoxypoly-(hydroxypropylene oxide) of formula: (in which R is 6-18C alkyl; R' is H or 1-18C alkyl; Q is polyether group of 3-15 hydroxypropylene oxide units with n- and iso-propylene sections). This additive imparts good surface characteristics, e.g. roughness, rewettability, lack of repellency, and improved permeability to processing solutions. It also facilitates coating process, is photographically inert and compatible with other additives. |
