A method and a device for filling a liquid crystal into a cell by using a capillary phenomenon. The method has the step of raising the liquid crystal(L) upward and making the raised liquid crystal(L) contact with the inlet(I) of the cell(C). The device for the same has a capillary block member(1) having a capillary groove(1a) along which the liquid crystal rises. The block member(1) is immersed a lower portion thereof into the liquid crystal(L) in a reservoir(R) and extend over the liquid crystal(L). The top portion of the capillary groove(1a) makes a point contact with the inlet(I) of the cell(C) thereby the raised portion of the liquid crystal(L) flowing into the cell(C).
