<p>The thermal decomposition appts. for plastic, has a heated (8) vessel (1) and an offtake (2)with a lower opening in the upper central part of the vessel. There is a condenser/cooler (3) in the offtake riser section, to condense high boiling components from the gases and vapours produced by decomposition. Pref. the condenser/cooler is air cooled with external fins (13) and has internal multi stage deflection baffles (12). A detector (16) measures the temp. of the gases produced, at the condenser/cooler exit. This signal is used by the temperature controller to raise the gas temperature a given rate and then to hold the temperature constant, by controlling the vessel heater.</p> |
