PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of automatically detecting an unremoved binding material. SOLUTION: In this apparatus for detecting a metal binding material for a fiber bale by a metal detector to be operated contactlessly, a metal detector 10 is arranged ahead a device 8 for separating metal binding materials 5a,..., 5n so as to automatically detect an unremoved metal binding material and another metal detector 11a is installed behind the separating device. A fiber bale 6 and the metal detectors 10 and 11 are mutually relatively movable.
