PURPOSE: To provide a low-cost ink jet recorder capable of recording with high quality and excellent gradation property in addition to a compact structure. CONSTITUTION: Four types of ink discharge port rows for discharging inks of four types of hues are arranged continuously to the conveying direction of a recording medium, recording heads 12u, 12k having four liquid chambers corresponding to the ink discharge port rows are aligned laterally at a carriage 23. The adjacent ink discharge port rows of the two recording heads 12u, 12k discharge the inks of the same he having different color densities. Integral ink tanks 13u, 13k detachable at the respective heads have independent tanks of partitioned four chambers for individually storing the four types of inks. A blade 27 for cleaning the head sequentially wipes the heads in order from the head for discharging the ink of low color density to the head for discharging the ink of high color density. |
