PURPOSE: To provide a deodorizer in which a catalytic effect equivalent to that of active carbon in the form of powder can be obtained and deodorization can be effected efficiently, while a problem that active carbon is washed away is being avoided. CONSTITUTION: A circulation tank 25 is disposed at the bottom of a deodorizing column 23, and a spray nozzle 28 is interposed between a malodorous gas inlet port 21 and a deodorized gas outlet port 22 in the column 23 to spray circulating liquid 24 fed from the tank 25, and a packing material layer 29 is formed below the nozzle 28. The layer 29 is constituted of carbon ceramic packing materials which function as a catalyst in the reaction between malodorous components and chemical liquids. As a result, the height of a packing material layer can be reduced, and hence a device can be made compact. |
