<p>PURPOSE: To make it possible to open a sheet conveying path when a sheet jam occurs and thus facilitate the processing of the sheet jam in a device where the sheet is nipped and conveyed by a conveying rotating body and a driven rotating body, by providing guide members respectively on the upstream and downstream sides of both the rotating bodies in the direction of sheet conveyance. CONSTITUTION: When a jam of recording sheets generated near a sheet conveying device B is processed, an opening and closing cover of a printer body is first opened to remove a process cartridge. Then, for example, when a sheet jam occurs on the side of a conveying guide 21, the conveying guide 21 is rotated around a roller bearing 19 in the (b) direction. As a result, the cam part 21b of the conveying guide 21 runs on a conveying roller bearing 16, and the conveying guide 21, a roller 15, a roller shaft 18, the roller bearing 19 are integrally slid (upward) in the direction away from the conveying roller bearing 16 against an energizing member. That is, since press contact between a conveying roller 14 and the roller 15 is released, a sheet jammed between the conveying guide 21 and the roller 15 is removed.</p> |
