PURPOSE: To provide a thermal transfer ink ribbon capable of being reduced in an area of sufficiently sticking ink in a melt transfer type wax ink ribbon without releasing an ink layer all from a support film in the case of printing in low density, performing fine areal gradation in the case of printing with intermediate color and low density and obtaining an accurate image even in the case of full-color printing. CONSTITUTION: This thermal transfer ink ribbon comprises a structure that an intermediate sticky layer on one surface of a polyester film and a melt transfer type wax ink layer are sequentially provided thereon and a heat resistant layer is provided on the other surface of the film. The intermediate layer is a coating layer containing water soluble or water dispersible polyester resin and wax in such a manner that the solid content concentration of the polyester resin to the coating layer component is 30 to 90wt.%, and the solid content concentration to the wax component is 10 to 70wt.%. |
