PURPOSE: To provide a flame processing device capable of correctly maintaining a large sized glass preform at a prescribed temperature for flame processing. CONSTITUTION: This flame processing device for a glass preform is provided with a means for rotating (arrow mark 13) the glass preform around its central axis and also transferring (arrow mark 14) it in a vertical direction by taking the central axis direction as the vertical direction, plural oxyhydrogen burners 2 for heating the glass preform 1, a non-contacting temperature sensor 3 for measuring the surface temperature of the glass preform 1 and a means 4 for observing the appearance in the neighborhood of the heated glass preform 1, and the aforementioned oxyhydrogen burners 2, the temperature sensor 3 and the observing means 4 are arranged on a plane 8 containing the surface part of the heated glass preform 1 and vertical to the central axis 5 of the preform 1, and as facing toward the central axis 5 of the preform. |
