<p>PURPOSE: To provide an auxiliary brake system installed in a vehicle having an automatic transmission so as to enhance braking power further owing to an auxiliary brake. CONSTITUTION: This device has an automatic transmission OM, which determines an objective shift step based on a shift step-selecting map stored in an automatic shift controller 37 corresponding to a position of a shift switch and vehicular informations regarding V,θa, and controlls a transmission 3 so as to keep the objective shift step. The device also has an exhaust gas braking system 7 and a compression releasing engine brake system 8 as an auxiliary means for engine braking which acts to enhance effect of engine braking when a manual switch 47 is operated into a first range s1, and a shift-down signal detecting means 6 which outputs a shift-down signal when the manual switch 47 is operated into a second range s2, following the operation of the first range s1. Then, the automatic shift controller 37 shift downs the objective shift step by one step from the range decided at the time when a shift down signal is inputted in order to carry out shift control.</p> |
