PURPOSE: To produce a grain-tone artificial marble having high interfacial adhesive force between particles forming the grain-tone and the surrounding matrix and exhibiting high thermal cracking resistance by polymerizing a composition composed of four specific kinds of components. CONSTITUTION: The objective artificial marble can be produced by polymerizing a composition composed of (A) 20-50 pts.wt. of methyl methacrylate(MMA), a mixture of MMA and a vinyl monomer having one vinyl group or a syrup of their partial polymer, 0.1-10.0wt.% (based on the component A) of a cross- linkable vinyl monomer having >=2 vinyl groups, (A') 20-50 pts.wt. of one or more kinds of inorganic fillers selected from aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and silica and MMA, a mixture of MMA and a vinyl monomer having one vinyl group or a syrup of their partial polymer, 0.05-0.5wt.% (based on the component A') of a cross-linkable vinyl monomer having >=2 vinyl groups, 0.05-5 pts.wt. of the above inorganic fillers and coloring pigments (the sum of the components is 100 pts.wt.) and 3-25 pts.wt. of crushed particles having particle diameters of 0.1-5.0mm, an average particle diameter of 0.24-2.8mm and a swelling degree of 1.5-2.5. The total amount of the inorganic fillers is 30-70 pts.wt. |
