<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an optical element capable of precisely setting the position of a glass material to a die even in case of having a variety in the size or volume of the glass material or some change in its size or volume. SOLUTION: This device for forming an optical element is constituted by arranging containing parts 805, 806 of a position setting device for setting the position of a glass material G in the vicinity of the forming surface of a lower die 101 in a drum die 100 and forming a part for setting position being in contact with the glass material G as tapered states such as tapered parts 805a, 806a. And in the outside of the drum die 100, racks 807, 808 and a pinion 809 are installed and adjusted to the drum die 100 through a supporting member 812 as a mechanism for moving the contacting part 805, 806 of the position setting device, while maintaining the relative relationship in their positions, i.e., so as to keep each of the distances from the center of the lower die 101 to the contacting parts 805, 806 of the position setting device always equal. A driving cylinder 814 for actuating the contacting part 805, 806 of the position setting device is arranged at the major part of a press forming device through a sliding groove 811.</p> |
