PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject food similar to dried meat, having a laminated structure and respective specific water content, protein content, carbohydrate content, fat content and density, having low protein content and producible without adding a protein binder, sugar, etc. SOLUTION: The objective food has a laminated structure and a water content of 4-15%, a protein content of 14-35%, a carbohydrate content of >=25%, a fat content of 2-20% and a density of 0.3-0.6. The food can be produced by mixing the principal components, usually 40-70% cereals, 5-25% vegetable protein extract, 5-30% animal meal and 10-20% vegetable by-products, heating the mixture with an extruder (preferable a single-screw extruder), extruding in the form of a strip or a thin and long strand and drying the extrudate after cutting. The product is preferably a 5-40mm cube. The mixture is heated in the extruder preferable at 80-150 deg.C. The product is suitable as a per food for dog. |
