PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve absorptivity by incorporating a cyclic olefin copolymer contg. a polymerization unit derived from a cyclic olefin and an acyclic olefin into the absorbent. SOLUTION: At least one cyclic olefin copolymer contg. a polymerization unit derived from at least one cyclic olefin, especially a polycyclic olefin, and at least one acyclic olefin is incorporated to form an absorbent. This absorbent is allowed to contain 10-100wt.%, preferably 50-100wt.%, or more preferably 90-100wt.% cyclic olefin copolymer. Meanwhile, the polycyclic olefins having 5-50, especially 5-30 carbon atoms are preferably used. Theα-olefins having 2-40 carbon atoms are preferably used as the acyclic olefins.
