<p>PURPOSE: To easily fabricate a handrail member equipped with skid prevention by enclosing the outer surface of the handrail member with a synthetic resin having an uneven thickness part by means of an extrusion process, and forming a surface unevenness on the uneven thickness part immediately after extrusion continuously using a shaping roll. CONSTITUTION: A long core 1 consisting of a pipe of aluminum, stainless steel, or FRP pipe is enclosed seamlessly with a synthetic resin layer 2 consisting of an uneven thickness layer 3 having a large thickness and a uniform layer having a small thickness. The enclosure is formed by passing the core 1 through a cross-head extruder and extruding the synthetic resin 2 from the periphery in such an arrangement that the over-part is made thinner and the under-part thicker. Immediately after extrusion, recesses 4 and projections 5 are formed in the uneven thickness layer 3 located under continuously using a shaping roll 7. If necessary, wood chips are mixed with the synthetic resin 2 to give the handrail a high grade sense of wooden tone. When a person grips the handrail, his fingers are engaged by the surface unevenness of the handrail to preclude risk of slip. Thus a handrail equipped with slip prevention can be fabricated easily and at a low cost.</p> |
