PURPOSE: To decompose a carboxylic acid derivative in a high concentration by treating a carboxylic acid derivative comprising an acrylic acid-sulfurous acid adduct with the cultured solution of a micrrorganism belonging to the genus Alcaligenes and having an ability to assimilate the compound, or with the cells (treated products). CONSTITUTION: A sulfuric acid group-containing carboxylic acid derivative (e.g. acrylic acid-sulfurous acid adduct) comprising an acrylic acid-sulfurous acid adduct of formula I (R<1> is H, an alkali metal atom; R<2> , R<3> are H, methyl; X is amino, hydroxy, methoxy) is treated with the culture solution of a microorganism [e.g. alcaligenes Sp. MR-2201 strain (FERM P-13958)] belonging to the genus Alcaligenes and having an ability to assimilating the carboxylic acid derivative, the cells or the cell-treated products to obtain the objective carboxylic acid derivative in a high concentration. The carboxylic acid derivative is obtained by reacting an acrylic acid derivative of formula II with a sulfurous acid compound of formula: R<1> HSO3 . |
