PURPOSE: To eliminate problems to be caused by human inspection and conduct a full automatic inspection by calculating a number of mark-forming picture-elements for inspection from converted image data in reference to the image pickup signals of an inspection mark, and obtain determination data by comparing the number of detection picture elements with the number of reference picture elements. CONSTITUTION: Books 2 are transported by a transportation device 5 of a book making machine, and a message 3 and an inspection mark 4 are printed thereon when they pass through the front of an ink-jet printing machine, where image pickup signals of an image pickup camera in the inspection region including the mark are inputted in a printing quality determination device main body 10, where the signals are converted into binary digital signals, and the number of picture elements in the part printed are counted, and if the counted value is picture elements for non-defective article, it is stored as a reference counted value, and if it is the number of picture elements to be inspected, it is stored as an inspection counted value. Go-no-go determination signals 12 are outputted to be processed on the basis of both counted values and allowance. Accordingly, problems to be caused by human inspection are prevented, and problems that reference images are different in each printed matter are solved, and thereby a total inspection can be done automatically. |
