The invention relates to a pneumatic pressure regulator, with electronic control, for the fluid contained in an accumulator, regulating it between a given source pressure value and an exhaust pressure value, comprising a transfer volume (4) connected to the accumulator (5) by a first solenoid valve (3); a second solenoid valve (1) connecting the transfer volume (4) to a source of pressure; a third solenoid valve (2) connecting the said transfer volume (4) to a pressure sink and a pressure sensor (6) located downstream of the solenoid valve (3) measuring the pressure of the fluid in the accumulator (5) and connected to an electronic system for controlling the said solenoid valves (1, 2, 3). The invention also relates to a method for regulating the pressure of a fluid using such a regulator. Application to printing using a continuous jet of drops of ink (ink jet printing).
