The present invention concerns a device (1) for automatically emptying a container (2). According to the invention, the following steps are all carried out in a program-controlled manner: the container is secured on said device (1), the container door (5) is unlocked and opened with a rotation by a rotating mechanism (4); the device is tilted; the container is emptied; the device is set down in its horizontal position; the container door is closed and locked; and the container is disengaged from the device. The present invention further concerns the use of the device in a bio-container composting system for automatically emptying containers.
