摘要 A roller or slide bearing (17) on the steering spindle (8) is axially located with less force than the impact force on the steering wheel, and the bearing housing (18,19) is axially open to allow it to adjust in the spindle sense and so free the bearing (17). The spindle endface (14) furthest from the steering wheel is adjoined by an energy absorber (13) arranged coaxial to the spindle part (7) and axially supported at wheel bearing height relative the spindle endface specified. A spring (24) allocated to the spindle part is used to pre-tension the spindle against the wheel bearing seat (11). The absorber presents a plastics sleeve surrounding the upper part of the spindle, and both the wheel bearing seat and the slide etc bearing housing each come with shells equipped with confronting flanges fixed one above the other. In a tube absorber shape, the two ends of the tube bear on supporting rings, one ring allocated to the body-fixed radial bearing and the other ring resting axially on the outer circumference of the spindle part (8).
