Mass flow measurement for grain e.g. on combine harvester

The measurement is made indirectly on material lifted by the screw conveyor (3) from the input region (A) through a tube (2) to an outlet (E). A universal joint (5) couples the screw to the output shaft of the rotary drive (4). The drive speed or torque is converted by a slip-ring into an electrical signal. The electronic signal processor is battery powered. It includes an input noise filter, amplifier, low-pass filter and switched calibrator. It may also give warning of overload of the drive or danger of jamming of the conveyor.
