A method of introducing a side protection sleeve to a four sided object, such as a stack of planks, has level strips (2,3) of the sleeve material laid on both parallel longitudinal surfaces (1a,1b). The width equals the height and the length equals the sum of the length (1) and the width (b) of the plank. The angled end sections of the sleeve material laid over the plank are pressed against the front faces (1c,1d) of the plank, and the opposite ends are connected via an adhesive foil.
